Shania great, but over production!
The huge production was impressive as the opening curtain revealed Lyle Lovett & His Acoustic Group on a stair case with a huge black dress spread out in about a 20 foot wide circle around them! The band was minimized with simply two guitars, two fiddle players, a super fantastic (female!) drummer; a keyboard appeared only once or twice. While the stage sets were much simplified from previous concerts (3 big 'boxes' that provided a back drop for video projection sets), the video projection and lighting gave us a wide variety of visual scenes. Costumes and changes were amazing as Lyle Lovett & His Acoustic Group dashed back-stage after darn near every song to CHANGE into yet another outfit/dress/pants/skirt/cowboy boots, etc! The focus was clearly on Lyle Lovett & His Acoustic Group and their vocals. The real disappointment was the intense all-male dance team that was a TOTAL DISTRACTION from anything Shania was doing or singing! About 10 or more dancers bounded about the stage in strange choreography throughout the show behind her, and as the show progressed, they removed shirts, pants, and probably kept many of the women in the audience from bothering to watch Shania at all! She needs to cut the dance team down to maybe 2 men and add 2 women - we don't need all that distraction from the Shania show!
